Children are naturally drawn to music. By considering music education for your child at an early age, you will take a first step toward bonding musically with your child and enriching your family life with active music-making.

Our program uses the Musikgarten Curriculum. Only Musikgarten offers a comprehensive, sequential plan for the musical development of your child from birth to age 10. Each of our 6 courses stands on its own and fits the developmental needs of the child. Class time is educational, fun, and purposeful.Musikgarten:

Awakens your child's natural music abilities.
Develops your child's ear through listening and the voice through singing
Nurtures your parent-child bond through shared musical activities
Prepares your child for instrumental lessons through playful repetition of tonal and rhythm patterns
Musically guides your child from infancy to age 9

Musik Kids is the Musikgarten program at The Center For The Arts. It is a group class program where children and parents share musical activities under the guidance of an early childhood music specialist. While singing, moving, listening, and playing simple instruments, the children develop a strong musical foundation in pitch recognition, steady beat, rhythm patterns, and music repertoire. You will receive CDs, family activity guides and instruments to continue the bonding and fun of music with your child at home.

We understand the challenges of juggling a busy family schedule and have a flexible class make-up policy for occasions when illness or an unavoidable conflict occurs.

SUMMER 2010 CLASSES

Family Music

Age Group: 1 - 4 years old

Sing! Move! Play instruments! Children and adults make music together in a joy-filled group environment. Our Musik Kids' teachers will lead the group in activities which increase music aptitude and prepare the children for a life-long love of music. Chose a class, but feel free to come to any other class in addition to the one you signed-up for. Signing up gives you an unlimited pass for all classes!

Young Musicians

Age Group: 5 - 7 years old

Awaken your child's natural love of music through imaginative musical activities! Whether singing, moving, or playing instruments, the children love their music class! Your child will delight in telling stories, accompanying singing, keeping a steady beat, and playing fun rhythms. Beginning rhythm reading and simple musical writing activities are part of each music class. Parent share time the last 5 - 10 minutes of class. Younger siblings may come to the share time. Chose a class, but feel free to come to the other class in addition to the one you signed-up for. Signing up gives you an unlimited pass for all classes!
