Alexandra Hiew, Violin
Alexandra Hiew received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she is currently working towards a Doctor of Musical Arts degree with a cognate in String Pedagogy. Her principal teachers include Won-Bin Yim, Kurt Sassmannshaus, Emin Tagiev and Mark Lakirovich. She has studied chamber music with the Tokyo String Quartet, American String Quartet, Amernet String Quartet, Peter Oundjian, James Tocco, Bill Grubb, Lee Fiser and Sandra Rivers. Previously a violin faculty member of the Music Preparatory department at Northern Kentucky University, Ms Hiew currently is co-founder and musical director of Covington Youth Strings in Kentucky and is on faculty at the Cincinnati String Academy at The Center For The Arts, Wyoming since 2002 teaching traditional violin. Ms. Hiew performs regularly with orchestras throughout the tri-state area.
