Kevin Necessary

Kevin Necessary is an award-winning cartoonist, illustrator and graphic designer. Since 2002, he has worked at a variety of newspapers in both Ohio and California.

A Cincinnati native, Kevin graduated from Kent State University's School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He served as design editor of the Chillicothe (Ohio) Gazette, and was later promoted to art director of Desert Post Weekly in Palm Springs, Calif., where he also served as that paper's managing editor and provided designs and editorial cartoons for the paper's parent publication, The Desert Sun.

Kevin returned to Cincinnati in 2006, where he spent three years as a designer and illustrator for the now-defunct CiN Weekly, which was part of the Cincinnati Enquirer. While there, Kevin was commissioned to create a good-bye cartoon for Pulitzer-winning editorial cartoonist (and Kevin's personal hero) Jim Borgman. Since leaving the Enquirer in 2009, he has worked as a freelance illustrator and video director.

Kevin is currently a resident of Clifton, and is thankful that he's just a block away from a Skyline Chili.
