Musik Kids is the Musikgarten program at The Center For The Arts. It is a group class program where children and parents share musical activities under the guidance of an early childhood music specialist. While singing, moving, listening, and playing simple instruments, the children develop a strong musical foundation in pitch recognition, steady beat, rhythm patterns, and music repertoire. You will receive CDs, family activity guides and instruments to continue the bonding and fun of music with your child at home. We understand the challenges of juggling a busy family schedule and have a flexible class make-up policy for occasions when illness or an unavoidable conflict occurs.

Mary Rekers is the Director of the Musik Kids program at the Wyoming Fine Arts Center. She has been teaching music to children in private studio and school settings for 24 years. She is certified levels I and II in the Orff-Schulwerk (music and movement) method, and is an Ohio licensed Elementary School Teacher. "Teaching music has always been my passion and joy. But to truly make a difference in a child's musical aptitude, and a family's music-making skills means starting very young! The research in the field shows that musical play has the most benefits before age 3, age 6, and age 9. As a music educator, I have made it my journey to work (and play) with these youngest children and their families." Mary has presented at Regional Montessori conferences, the National Orff Association's Conference, pre-school teacher development days, and for the children's librarians of the Hamilton County Public Library.

Kelli Domke
Kelli sang all the time as a little girl, and remembers a childhood richly colored by those songs. A classically trained singer, her musical studies have included work at The University of Houston (undergrad) and the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (graduate studies). Despite all this, she still loves to sing like she did as a girl... like a regular person! As the happy mama of two song-loving boys of her own, she knows from experience that the songs we carry in our hearts are among our strongest parenting tools. She's excited to share Musikgarten music with you and your little ones
Liz Archer has over twenty years experience as a professional singer both in her native England and in the US. She has over 5 years experience teaching singing to children and young adults. Liz was first introduced to Musikgarten when she brought her 6 week old son to class. It wasnt long after that she took the training and has been a Musikgarten teacher for over 4 years. She is currently a member of Muse, Cincinnati's womens choir who celebrate their 25th anniversary this year.
You will experience Elizabeth Lotspeich gently rocking with infants, enthusiastically bouncing with the toddlers, or weaving an adventure story with the pre-schoolers. Elizabeth has an extensive background in early childhood education and movement and play with children and adults. Formerly a teacher with The Children's Home of Cincinnati and The Waldorf School of Cincinnati and a park naturalist with Cincinnati parks, Elizabeth has worked and played with people of all ages. She has researched, created, performed, and directed interactive school plays and puppet shows with nature or historical themes as the major focus. Now Elizabeth is combining her own passion of music, singing, dancing, playing and nature with the families of Musik Kids, creating the joy filled activity of making music as a part of their everyday life.
A piano teacher for over 15 years, Nancy also taught music at a children’s preschool and a kindergarten group class at her home studio. She holds an English degree and was working towards her Masters in Elementary Education in Massachusetts when her husband’s job transfer brought them to Cincinnati. She loves writing music for children and is learning to play the guitar.
