Trista Emmons
Trista Emmons was honored with the Ohio String Teachers Association’s 2006-07 Young Teacher of the Year award for her work as orchestra director with the Princeton City Schools in Cincinnati, Ohio. A proponent of alternative styles, she worked with the first high school rock orchestra, The Lakewood Project, in Cleveland, Ohio, and continues to expand her students’ skills by infusing groups’ programs with a large variety of musical styles. She has had great success in incorporating the Suzuki Method in the public school environment and developing strong chamber music skills in students of all ages.
An accomplished violist and violinist, she holds degrees in Viola Performance from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music and The Cleveland Institute of Music, as well as a Master of Arts in Education from Case Western Reserve University. Ms. Emmons frequently performs throughout Ohio as an orchestral and chamber musician. She was a fellowship recipient at the Aspen Music Festival. Her primary teachers were Masao Kawasaki, Catharine Carroll, Mark Jackobs and Ellen dePasquale.
